Play Tent

I have finally finished the play tent. * Fist pump*

I started this project so long ago it ridiculous. Were talking Samuel's first birthday, that type of - long ago.
A little embarrassing. But in my defence, I don't have a sewing machine. I was borrowing my mother in laws sewing machine.

I would go to her house, work on the tent and than leave everything at her place for the next time I could come back to work on it.

Before you know it, time was passing so quickly and I forgot about it. Out of sight out of mind!

When Samuel's second birthday was approaching I remembered the play tent that I had started nearly a year ago. So once things started to slow down from all the summer hype I asked to borrow the sewing machine so that it would be at my house, staring me in the face.
With is sitting right on my kitchen table I started to work on it again.

By this time I had forgotten how to use the sewing machine though . Haha.

A friend of mine came over with her husband and she loves sewing. So after my SLOW attempt at sewing the ties on to the tent she said she would do it while we played Settlers of Catan. So in between turns she finished putting on the last of the tent ties.
She was ten times faster than I was.

We set it up in the basement so Samuel had a nice surprise when he woke up. He liked it, specially hanging from it. Typical boy.

I'm glad it's done and I'm very happy with how it turned out. It's the first time I have ever tried sewing. The lines are a little wonky but not bad. Hopefully my next sewing project goes even better.

I was planning on doing a tutorial on how we made the play tent because we kinda just made it up and went through all the trial and error of building it but so much time has passed.

I didn't take any pictures of the process and I don't have the measurements anymore. I realize I could measure it all again, take it apart and take pictures... but to save my self some time that I desperately need ( Both kids are sick and I'm in zombie mode ) you should look at this great tutorial here at ohdeardrea.

Forgive me for all the underwear pictures. Were in the midst of potty training and for some reason, when I put pants on him he always has accidents. If we leave him in just underwear he goes on the potty. Strange but whatever works.

Chalk Wall

So here I go posting two write ups in the same day when I have gone weeks with out posting. My house might be suffering for this a little bit but who cares. I mean you spend hours cleaning only for it to be completely messed up by the time your husband comes home from work anyways and than he wonders what I did all day. Im going out tonight with some girl friends so at least I won't be sitting around all night looking at it :P Our weekend is JAM packed. Im talking full on don't have a moment to sit down packed. So really what is the point of cleaning today. It's gonna be messy by Monday so lets leave it till Monday.

Anyways.

This post was not supposed to be about how messy my house is. I wanted to post pictures of the little project that I took on and when I say project that I took on, I really mean that my husband took on. My part mostly consisted of hours looking at ideas on Pinterest and than making my husband do what I wanted. How very wifey of me.

I actually saw this for the first time in my cousins house. She had her whole kitchen wall done in it. She was telling me how you can by this paint that turns into a chalk board when it's dry. Super cool. I remember thinking at the time that I would like to do this for our kids when we finally bought our house. Now a few years have passed since that day with my cousin and I forgot about it until I saw it again on Pinterest.

So as soon as we got our house I had all the plans for Ben to put it into action. He did a great job on it even though he has never done anything like this before. Everyone always compliments us on it. It's just a really good way to entertain Samuel when I need him to stay out of trouble and of course I have fun with it too.

I might try a few other projects in the future with the chalk board paint since I have it already. But don't hold your breath. Thinking about something and actually doing it are completely separate things.

Forgive me. I obviously was meaning to do this post ages ago. Samuel is so much younger here. But Im just trying to catch up from all the stuff I haven't posted about that I was going to.

First time using the chalk board

Trogdor

I apologies for the last two photos where this crazy dragon thing is burning a bunny. That dragon is from this silly little cartoon thingy we used to watch all the time. I swear were not crazy. If you want to see the website it's from, go here.
