A Little Of This & A Little Of That

Our weekends are always jam packed full of little adventures. We don't clean, we don't stay home and we always have a ton of fun.

My husband has a pretty great job that has him home around 4:15pm every day, for the most part. I am so grateful Im not the mom who has to do it all while the husband works out of town or till 9pm.

Even though we get a fair amount of daddy time, I still look forward to the weekend where we have his un divided attention and can do things as a family.

This weekend we packed our bags and headed down to Calgary.

I went to see my really good friend who lives just outside Calgary with Nathan and the hubby took Samuel into the city to stay with the lovely couple who were married this summer.

It was nice to just have Nathan for a change. He is the happiest baby and so content, minus his horrible sleeping habits. We pretty much drank coffee, went in the hot tub, hung out with our babies and talked and talked and talked! It was WONDERFUL. The weekend flew by as usual.

The mommies

The whole group of us met up on the Saturday and went to the zoo, followed by an amazing steak dinner. Yum.

Samuel just loved running all over the place and was pretty excited by the animals.  He got really giddy at the squirrel... Of course, we go to the zoo and an every day squirrel would have him the most excited.

I really loved the tigers. There was a mother with three cubs. Adorable. One tiger cub thought Samuel would be a tasty treat though. As Sam was running around, stick in hand, this tiger was watching his every move and scratching at the glass.
They have really thick glass right!?...

Attacking the bubbles

Good friends of ours just moved back to Calgary this weekend too. I'm sad to see them go but I know it's better for them to be there. Plus I think I will end up seeing them more with them there than when they were here.

We have lots of reasons to re visit the city. Just waiting for the next opportunity to go down there. I'm really hoping we have a mild winter like last year. The high way between the two cities is absolutely horrible sometimes.

The week is almost over. Huzzah. Both boys and I are sick and everyones a little more sleep deprived than usual. But Im glad it's happening now and were coming to the end of it with Thanks giving a few days away.

This week was fairly busy with birthdays. Monday was my youngest brothers birthday. He turned nine. So strange. I will always remember him being as big as my Samuel.

My other brother birthday is today. He is turning fifteen. That's how old Ben and I were when we started liking each other and hanging out.  I will totally freak out when he starts dating. I don't think the big sister in me can handle it yet!

We had a  big birthday party for the boys. We ate cake, played games. The usual family stuff.

Climbing everything and running every where

I am a bridesmaid in a wedding next month :) We went to the brides wedding dress fitting. She was an absolute vision. It's going to be an amazing wedding.
I'm very excited.

My neck has been bothering me terribly. I have been trying to get over it and be tough but it's bad. My chiropractor said I should go for a massage because it's not staying in. I did... but I'm not sure if it helped. Regardless I'll be back at the chiropractor first thing next week.

Ben's eyes have been bothering him lately. He keeps getting blurs in them and is having some eye pain. So he's going to get his eyes checked next week. Since my eyes aren't peachy either and I was told to get glasses ... I dunno, two years ago, I think it's time we both get in there and get this sorted out.

He loved those things

Nathan fell asleep sucking his thumb. AWWW

The boys have changed so much in the last little while. Normally I don't notice a huge change in Samuel now that he's older but I really have this last while. He is talking up a storm these days and is starting to say the funniest things.
He absolutely loves dancing, mostly to Justin Bieber songs. It's really amusing at how annoyed it makes Ben.  How horrible am I!? But every day Sam turns on the raido and starts dancing away.

Nathan. Our sweet little thumb sucker. He's starting to move all over the place with his rolls. I've noticed his little bum is starting to get up in the air and it's freaking me out. Samuel started crawling at six months. Nathan's starting to show the signs that Samuel did before he started crawling.
I'm not ready for two mobile children. If he want's to sit and not crawl till he's one, I'm okay with that.
I think I can relax though. He's not quite five months yet.

Nathan is just growing and changing all the time. Before we know it we will be starting solids. I'm really enjoying the bottle days. No mess. Easy to take with you.

Have you noticed I don't like change!? I fight it. That's just how I am. Obviously, it inevitably changes and I get used to it. Than we just repeat the process all over.

Well that's the down low over here. I hope it wasn't to boring for you.
Hopefully you all have a great Thanks Giving and a great weekend.

In The Country

My dear friend, Megan lives out on an acreage a short drive outside of the city.

It's beautiful out there.

They have a huge garden where they grow EVERYTHING! Corn, pumpkins, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, zucchini, cabbage ect.

Anything you want, they've got it.

There are apples tree's, pretty flowers and most importantly ( For Samuel ) a huge open field that goes as far as the eye can see. Samuel can run as far has he likes and I can always see what he's doing with out even getting up.

I love being surround by natures sights, sounds and smells. There is always some sort of activity going on. They are harvesting or canning. They go hunting and quadding.

It's absolutely refreshing!

I like living where there are grocery stores and malls. Where everything I need is conveniently five minutes away! But there is apart of me that just loves the country. Peace and quiet. Wheat fields that go for miles. No distractions! Being able to slow my self down, go out side and literally just lay in the grass.

Double Trouble

When we leave Samuel usually has a full basket of "nature". There are rocks in one pocket, leaves in the other and a stick or two in his hands.

I also never leave empty handed. I alway get some sort of vegetable to take home, which is greatly appreciated. There is NOTHING like home grown vegetables.
The tomatoes are juicer, the carrots are crunchier. Any of you that have a garden or have got anything from someone who has a garden knows what I'm talking about.

Samuel helping give the kittens milk

Megan also has some cats and a dog. Two of her cats had kittens a few weeks back. When they were big enough to play out side and for Samuel to hold, we went for a visit.
It was some well needed mommy and Sam time.
There were ten adorable little fluff balls. Samuel had so much fun playing with them. He was desperately trying to kiss every kitten before they ran away.

Keeping track of ten little pouncing kittens is tough work. We almost had a heart attack when we thought we lost one outside. Turns out she was inside the bedroom the whole time! It was adorable watching Samuel run around calling for the kitty though. He was so concerned, we all were.

Watering the pumpkins

Of course I had to give myself the talk before we went out there! Chantal! You will not bring home any animals!!! Thank goodness I did because there was this one little kitty named Socks that I fell in love with.
He was so spunky and was defiantly the adventurous one out of the two litters. He was constantly trying to climb trees and getting into trouble.
Of course I would want the wild one. Couldn't just pick a tame one that wanted cuddles! haha.

I will kiss you if it's the last thing I do

Deep down I know I have my hands full. Im sure our future includes some sort of pet but Im not ready for that just yet.
And on top of that were more puppy people.

That's why Im really, really going to have to give myself the talk when we go out there tonight! Ben too! He's even worse than I am, which I didn't think was even possible!

Megan's beautiful lab had twelve puppies on friday.
Good work mama.
I am SO excited to see them. She has been sending me pictures on my phone and it melts my heart every time.

I promise! My next post will not be about how I couldn't resist and got a puppy!! *Deep breath* I can DO this!
